switching to 0ldsk00l RTS

which regards to RTS, only one game is indeed a favorite, Warcraft 3, I was never a true blue geek, and hence the not so enthusiasm with regards to anything sci-fi gaming.

it was a boring afternoon, or evening, after the sudden hype of starcraft headed into a trial gameplay over at the hamachi network. b41 and i, both gamers, computer scientists, and software developers, proceeded in setting up a virtual network to simulate LAN gaming over the intarweb.

our instinct has failed us, and we lacked a certain component to make the game work.  a precise version of hamachi (specifically Hamachi 1.0.1.1 ) over at the OldVersion site.  plus an upgrade for the starcraft patch that was not needed since b41 already setup that for me when he borrow my laptop for the starcraft game night.

thanks to m9dhatter for the tip.

what is my point? this was a game i never ventured since i was around 13 or 14? the only thing i remembered last was a bunch of terran marines and i have to make them survive running around some disintegrated base of sorts.

i never went back until now.

so my first ever game consisted of me, m9dhatter, 1 random computer, in the big game hunters map. apparently this map is pretty much famous for skirmish. he was protoss, i was terran, and i went to a bad start or doing the following : reading descriptions, finding the advance structures and was butchered during a rush, and making a dash of army that was laughable next to m9d’s growing team of protoss units (i still don’t know what they are called).

anyway. after that fateful game, i decided to read up on my terran units. and slowly started to try my new sk00l stuff to old sk00l.

but to my dismay. the smoothless of new techniques did not match a game that has been there for a decade. the multiple controlled barracks was a no-no. there was no upkeep so you can train until kingdom come, and with this hamster/rabbit like unit creation there was this questioning need to group same ordered structures into neat little numbered groupings. the miscalculation of build had my marine troops running around in all directions, my siege tanks blocking the path because they cant get out and me looking at them, dumbfounded.

yes, you can say, starcraft pwnd me. big time. it was an epic fail in my gaming history. and maybe i should stick to RPG on the console.

but never you mind. it was fun. and when you get it right. the rewards are tremendously satisfying.

plus, i’m always bored.
